RDF ( refuse derived fuel ) pellet mill is also called RDF briquetting machine. The crushed MSW waste is transported into the RDF pellet machine, and after many high-frequency punching, you could get RDF pellets without any adhesive. This machine is a stamping-type pellet mill. The motor configuration is between 45kw and 75kw, the output can reach up to 3 tons/hour, and the energy consumption is less than 50% compared with other types of MSW pellet machines.
RDF pellets or SRF Pellets refer to the cylindrical pellets made by the RDF pellet machine. After crushing and screening the municipal solid waste (or industrial waste), the RDF material is pressed into 20-30 mm pellets. To ensure the service life of the mold and reduce the cost of crushing and pressing, unless there are special requirements, the pellet diameter is not suggested too small (8-10mm).
At present, the most commonly used raw materials for making RDF pellets usually include MSW waste, SFR, industrial solid waste, waste from the paper mill, waste woven fabrics, waste soft plastics, leather, rags, etc. RDF pellets can be used as alternative fuels, suitable for power plants, cement factories, large boilers, gasification power generation projects, etc. But that’s not all boilers workable for the pellets.
We all know that the cost of making RDF pellets is not low, and this is not a small investment project also. There is an unavoidable key point, since the waste can be burned directly, why pressing into pellets or briquettes?
This is because the calorific value of raw MSW is only about 1000 kcal, and the average moisture content can be up to more than 40%, the combustion effect is not satisfied. In addition, the transportation cost is very high, which limits the MSW treatment. After making RDF pellets ( crushing, sorting, drying, pressing ), the calorific value increased by 3-4 times (depending on the raw materials and ingredients). The moisture content is very stable within 20%, and the combustion calorific value is stable, which can be used in many high-energy-consuming projects and factories.
Different from traditional biomass pellet production, the pre-treatment process of RDF pellet will be more complex, which is caused by the raw material composition. The moisture content is high and uneven, and the material is light and soft. If the processing flow design is unreasonable, it is easy to consume too much energy, and the RDF pellet mill out lower than expected.
In the plant, there are one or two shredding processes, at least one sorting process, the drying process determined according to the waste composition, and last is pellet making.
The combustible RDF is generally light and soft (paper, textiles, plastic ). Therefore, in the material conveying and feeding process, a special design to prevent winding&clogging is a must, a uniform device to ensure capacity is also required.
